Decent B Movie but far from the original Hard TargetWarning: Spoilers![Hard Target 2 Download Torrent Hard Target 2 Download Torrent](https://s11986.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/stop-torrent-download.jpg)

HARD TARGET was a Van Damme vehicle directed by the legendary John Woo.
This one is no related with the original but keep most of its structure; two bad guys a group of cruel hunters (the baddest of all very well played by Rhona Mitra) and a prey that does not like to be hunted. There are some variations on the beginning, the end, and the locations (here Myammar and Thailand jungle); but the core is humans hunting humans like in the Most Dangerous Game.
There are also a few moments with doves and a very recognizable gun; so I am assuming Roel Reiné is paying tribute to the original movie.
The problem is he is not Woo and you can easily notice. Some scenes are not well choreographed and the script could have benefited from better dialog, less clichés.
Production values are low but effective and the acting is mostly good; specially Robert Knepper
Scott Adkins is not as charismatic as Van Damme but his fighting skills are very good and keep the movie interesting.
The end could have been far better; but it was basically what you expected.
In brief; a good way to spend a couple of hours, if you prefer real live actions than digital unrealistic.

pretty generic..butPermalink
i didn't expect much from this one. and to be fair all i wanted to see at that moment, was a decent action flick. and surprisingly enough - i got it!
plot is predictable. i mean really. they did put some effort into developing main protagonist and it works, a bit. the acting is fairly average. but since this is an action film, let's get to action.
fight choreography is good, and one particular kill will catch you off guard(believe me i've seen it). since Adkins isn't playing Boyka, his technique is different, more simplified, but efficient enough.
there is a nice nod to the original HT and you will easily recognize it.
as for the supporting cast Rhona is playing a really stereotypical character, which was my main problem throughout the film. i mean she really can do better than that. Robert Kneppers main villain was decent enough to listen to his dialogue.
and for the last when you'll watch it make sure to know that some sequences take place simultaneously at different spots, so you won't feel lost in the pacing
overall i would give it 6.5/10 if you have enough time, watch it..

If you are a fan of Van Damme's 'Hard Target' or Action movies in General you should see this one. It's not right up there with the original, lacking the style of John Woo and the Charisma of Van Damme but it makes up with great Locations (can't see all those movies shot in the same Areas of Eastern Europe or Canada any more), good Action setups (lots of shootouts and explosions) and a pretty fine cast. You have to give the Producers and the director credit not just to cash in on the Name of a hidden nostalgic Action gem but coming up with a pretty good flick, they seemingly invested a good amount of Money and work in. Oh, and Rhona Mitra is in it *swoon*.

OK. wait a sec. I lied.
I think it actually IS the worst movie I have ever seen. Leaving aside for a moment that it stars an actor I actually like and believe has potential -- Adkins -- it pretty much sets the bar for awful.
* story not merely simplistic but stupid beyond belief. A stranger approaches you and offers you a fight with a big payday. You accept. Cut. Cut. New scene. You are now landing off a helicopter in a foreign country you have never seen, and are told that the 'fight' is against a dozen other people who will chase you through the jungle with weapons. All you get is a 60 second head start and a water bottle. Your response? You scream 'What is wrong with you people?' and start to run.
* think it can't get any worse? One of the hunters breaks off from the pack, finds you, and attacks you with a rifle, a knife, a stun gun, and an assortment of other weapons. You successfully kill him. If you were any other actor in any other movie following any other script, it might possibly occur to you to take one of he weapons you just 'won.' But in this movie you leave them all behind and continue to run into the jungle unarmed.
* OK, while you are being chased by armed men who gave you a 60 second head start, you encounter the 'love interest' in the movie, a beautiful girl supposedly portraying a native from a local village in the middle of nowhere. She looks and talks like a high fashion model, and likely actually is one, trying to bust into movies. It will not be a successful transition.
* all the telltales of a C-grade movie are here. Terrible dialog. Terrible script. Terrible direction. Terrible acting. The only positive is that, typical of these kinds of movies, all the actors get brand new clothes before each scene, so with the sound off, this film would make a passable commercial for a laundry detergent.
Ugh! Makes you really really really appreciate JCVD.

Recycled story that still entertainsPermalink
My quick rating - 5,3/10. The same basic formula as 'Hard Target' and the superior 'Surviving the Game' of take a person (Scott Adkins) and hunt him down for sport. This movie tends to lead into ridiculous category a few times but still delivers some quality action scenes which mostly are martial arts related. If you like those types of movies, you will like this. Scott Adkins plays a pro fighter who accidentally kills his best friend in the ring and ends up down and out due to depression. He takes on one last fight for money, but it ends up being him fighting for his life against a bunch of rich people who hunt him for sport. Very cliché from start to finish so you can fill in all the plot points in your head now. Entertaining it is. I would say Adkins is slowly solidifying his role is the times new action hero. I, for one, prefer that as opposed to all the really bad Seagal movies going straight to video these days.

90's style martial arts action flickPermalink
Anyone remember the 90's? The age of mobile phones that looked like bricks and cheesy martial art action flicks?
Hard Target 2 is firmly set in the 90's action flick mould. Its simple formulaic stuff but its also good fun. There's no pretension here just lots or corny but enjoyable scripting and tons of kick ass action. Lead actor Scott Adkins is a worthy successor to Jean Claude Van Damme. He's a talented martial artist and puts on a polished performance, that really helps to lift this film.
One to enjoy if, like me, you grew up on a diet of 90's action flicks. Seven out of ten from me.

Very ExcitingPermalink

Retired MMA fighter Wes Baylor (Scott Atkins) is given a chance to fight in Myanmar for 1-Million Dollars. He sort of retired after killing his best friend in a championship bout. When he goes there, he discovers there is no fight, but instead he will be the hunted. He is given a million dollars in rubies and can keep them if he makes it to the border. He sees the 7- men and one woman, Sofia (Rhona Mitra), who will be hunting him along with Aldrich (Robert Knepper) the so- called fight promoter. Let the games begin.
This is, of course, a variation of the Most Dangerous Game, but here Baylor will be hunted down with a GPS locator, long range rifles, hi-tech crossbows- with lights-, knives, swords, stun guns, pistols, jeeps, drones, motorcycles, and helicopters. (Didn't see any hand-grenades) Along the way he meets Tha (Ann Truong) a pretty jungle girl, whose brother is missing and she suspects he is being hunted and is hiding from Aldrich.
The fighting, stunts are simply brutal but outstanding. (Remember this is just a movie) Atkins as Baylor isn't given the wry comedic quips as a Bond, James Bond is known for. No, we see him as deadly serious as he is literally fighting for his life. Well, now for Tha's too.
The photography and cinematography are outstanding. The acting all around is good and the pacing is fast and furious.
Robert Knepper who will be forever known as Tea Bag from that Prison Break TV series did good as the boss of this gang of hunters and, at times, he was able to inject some morbid humor into this. He has a good way of doing that.
The only complaint I have is why, why , why would Baylor leave guns and knives on the ground after he kills one of the hunters and runs away? Why indeed.
Overall this was pretty exciting. The ending kind of left me thinking there might be a Hard Target 3 and maybe, just maybe we will see a more animated Baylor with some humorous quips. Could happen. (7/10)
Violence: Yes. Sex: No. Nudity: No. Language: Yes, not much.

Hard Target #2, Not as good as Van Damme & Hendericsen originalWarning: SpoilersPermalink
28 August 3016: Hard Target #2.
Scott Adkins is a really good martial artist, but this sequel should Not have been made. Scott and Michael J. White and Wesley Snipes are my favorite American martial arts/actors. Story line is the sequel is lousy. Action is so-so. When Scott is being chased by a hundred men with guns and in a helicopter and at close range, he should have been dead. To unrealistic. This should be a free cable t.v movie.
The original Hard Target with Jean Claude was much better. Chinese director, John Woo is Not in the credits on this sequel.
Co-star, Actor Rob Knepper does not even come close to being the lead bad guy that Lance Hendriksen or Arnold Voosloo was in the Van damme original. Lance is a lot better and just plain nasty. I give this version, a 4 on the scale of 1-10 with ten being top.

Decent Saturday Night B Action FlickWarning: SpoilersPermalink
When i heard of this movie i tough it could be very fun, i mean Scott Adkins playing the main character in a sequel to Hard Target, why not? Im not a fan of what i call 'Ammo Wasting' tough like what made John Woo, the director of the 'first movie' famous. Yes before i go further, lets be clear, this is a sequel to a 1993 movie made in 2016, with different actor. More or less they go the safe route of not doing a remake like Hollywood is so fond these days but rather an unrelated 'sequel' so people don't get upset. Kindergarten Cop did it not long ago with Dolph Lundgren playing the similar character of Arnold Swartzanegger.
So how is the movie? Well it start really good. The fight that help set the main hero is well done, not Boyka good, but pretty good. Then another fight which fit into the plot, a little more stiff and less good than the first but alright. So far so good. Then the movie move into the setting of why its call Hard Target. This is where the movie loose points. The hunters are after Wes, the hero, and he has to defend himself, and while i am glad most of the fights are hand to hand, they never recapture either the goodness of the first fights or the stuff from the first movie. When Wes kill a hunter, he never get his weapon to at least make the movie believable. The very first guy he kill had a knife, at least take the knife no? Rhona Mitra is in this too. She still look good for her age, but her acting was very stiff and her fight scene with Scott not good. Its obvious she can't follow him and you never think she could hold her ground against him unlike when she played a badass character in Doomsday couple years ago or Sonja in Underworld. I blame the director on that one that should see it and find a way to shoot that fight better, using angles to make her look good and not follow a choreography that is obvious.
The love interest slash sidekick woman is very pretty, her acting was alright in the french dubbed version i watched, but i saw reviews above that said she speak in a way too fluent English in the original version and thats my main grip with her character and her brother in the movie. They speak like English(or in my case french) is there first language. Not sure a modest villager of a small country near Thailand would speak English like this.
So i guess the only thing here is to suspend your disbelief a lot, and if you do that, the movie is still fairly enjoyable. Scott showcase his fighting ability again near the end and that fight is nice.
But overall, its a very generic action movie with lots of mistakes, its average in every area, acting, filming, action scenes(that are not hand to hand) but Scott is strong enough to carry the movie for me and his hand to hand fighting get the movie points. Rhona could had do a much better job tough, you can blame the fighting part on the director as i know she can do action flicks much better, but her expressions and acting is totally hers. The main bad guy did a very decent job on the other hand.
In the end, this movie is slightly above average, its a 6.5/10 for me. Its made on a limited budget and it show. The director have a lot of B movies to his credit and honestly having seen a bunch of them, this is not his best, nor his worst.
I would recommend for fans of Scott Adkins and fans of B action movies that never get enough. This review may seem negative a lot, but i had a fairly decent enjoyment with the movie, its not a 'bad movie' at all. It just could had been better in my book, it had the potential for it.

Lackluster SequelPermalink
zardoz-136 March 2017
Warning: SpoilersAnn Truong Actress
Scott Atkins survives 'Hard Target 2,' but this straight-to-video sequel isn't as challenging as the John Woo original. Having said that, I would also say that Atkins is a better actor that most give him credit, and straight-to-video helmer Roel Reiné is probably the best in the business at directing fare such as 'Dead in Tombstone,' 'Death Race 2,' and 'Marine 2.' 'Hard Target 2' squanders gorgeous actress Rhona Mitra, who is a vision in black leather wielding an assortment of weapons, but she does have a terrific death scene. Reiné and 'Act of Defiance' scenarists Matt Harvey & Dominic Morgan with 'Swimming with Sharks' scribe George Haung keep our embattled hero roughing it from start to finish. Wes Baylor (Scott Atkins) kills his best friend, a competing MMA fighter named Landon (Jamie Timony), when he delivers a spinning head kick that allows him to triumph over him. Only after he has celebrated his success does Wes realize that he has killed him. Afterward, Wes can only find fights in Asia where he runs into slimy Aldrich (Robert Knepper of 'Transporter 3') who has a deal for him. The haul that Wes is promised will set him up for life, but Wes gets the surprise of his life. He has to elude several hunters armed with weapons of every description through the jungles of Mynmar. Aldritch gives him a water bottle and a bag of rubies as payment and sends him packing. Near the end of this R-rated actioneer, Atkins gets his hands on an assault rifle and takes out dozens of bad guys. Along the way, the hunters fall prey either to Wes or natives who have been used in the hunt. Knepper makes a good, solid villain who doesn't have a qualm against killing innocent bystanders. The jungle scenery and the high stakes pursuit is strictly average. Reiné does double-duty as lenser, too, so these outlandish shenanigans are beautifully shot. The script has no surprises and there are no reversals worth mentioning. Altogether, Scott Atkins deserves better movies.

Worth it for fans of Adkins and those getting into him.Permalink
subxerogravity30 November 2016
When I herd that Hard Target 2 was going to be on Netflix, I was all set to jump at the chance to see it, but I must admit that I was a little upset to see the film starred Scott Adkins and not Jean Claude Van Damme.
Not that I don't love Scott Adkins, I do. He's this generations' marshal arts action star, but possibly because I'm such a huge fan of Van Damme and the idea that he can still do the high flying kicks that made him worth loving is the reason why it took me so long to see it.
The wait was well worth it. Of course it's not as good as the first one. Like I said the 1st one had Van Damme and was directed by John Woo in his first American picture, Just before Hollywood thought enough of him to temper with his genius. Not to mention that Lance Henriksen and Arnold Vosloo played possibly the first gay villains I ever seen on the big screen.
But like I said, Scott Adkins is this generations answer to Van Damme. In Hard Target 2, Adkins plays a Mixed Marshal Arts fighter (stretch), who accidentally kills his best friend in the ring. Filled with depression, he accidentally signs up to be hunted in Indonesia by a group of rich bastards, but of course 'They picked the wrong man to hunt'
It's interesting that happens though. When you play a game like Hard Target, eventually you will pick the wrong man to hunt, and man, you do not want to be on the team when that happens. There was at least two characters: A billionaire game developer and the son of some rich gun totting type who were hoping to start off with something a little simpler. Rounding out the variety of the hunters was a women with daddy issues and some famous Spanish guy looking for a thrill.
It's an action packed sequel. Not the best fighting Adkins has done in a picture (That I think was Undisputed 2 and 3), but I think Hard target 2 will work on those guys who never herd or don't really know who Adkins is. It's a great way to introduce him to the audience with a group of people wondering why Van Damme is not in it, but will not be disappointed with Adkins.

Painfully painful, like being softly but incessantly clubbedPermalink
Uh, I'm sorry I gave up my time to watch this. The main issue is how dumb, clichéd, and slow it is.
After the first few minutes I should have stopped watching it - I must be just as dumb, if not more so, that the creators of this movie because I watched most of it.
Watching it became painfully painful, like being softly but incessantly clubbed. I kept thinking, 'oh, this is so weak . it has to get better.' It didn't.
I gave up before the end - I'm lucky that I didn't keep watching until the end because I probably would have died from head injuries. Still, I'm pretty damaged from just watching the three quarters.
The makers of this movie should have rather have donated the investment money to poor folks, honestly. They just wasted it.

This movie is just bad. Really bad. I don't care how many times Scott Adkins kicks his legs and does the splits. The script is worse than D budget quality, the cinematography is D level, the acting is barely above C quality, and there's some very good actors in there who obviously just wanted a paycheck, Rhona Mitra. If you don't care, don't do it. It will show in your performance and it did. No one really seemed to care. And the original is no masterpiece, but this is beyond bad. And it looks bad. Very cheap looking and they had a jungle to work with. Wow! And the color of the scenes was 'meh' The filmmakers had no point of view. This was very amateurish and unoriginal. It's not enough to just have action anymore. You have to have a strong point of view and interesting characters. This had neither. And the action was not good. Just because something is slow motion doesn't mean it's cool. In fact, slow motion is so over used it has the opposite affect. Anyway, I love movies, and if you're reading this I'm sure you do too, but for the love of movies stay away from this lazy target.

Huge disappointmentPermalink
Fella_shibby16 September 2016
Warning: SpoilersBought a pirated copy from the streets of Mumbai for only 50 rupees. I didn't have the patience n i knew it's not gonna release in India. As a fan of the original Hard Target, i was very excited for this. Read my reviews of the original Hard target. I had even more high hopes knowing that my fav martial art hero Boyka aka Adkins was in it. Well, i was totally disappointed. This movie is so terrible n boring that I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I completed it in installments. Twice i yawned n felt asleep. First, there r too many unnecessary n boring fight scenes in the beginning. After seeing Boyka fight in one of the fights , our villain Knepper (nowhere close to the original villain Lance Henricksen) approaches him n tells him about this big fight match. Our hero accepts it n directly the next scene he is taken to some jungle in Burma. Over there our hero comes to know that he has to run n cross the border as he will be hunted by the hunters with various weapons. Rather than saying WTF, our hero asks the villain n gang 'whats the matter with u guys'. With jus a 60 second head start, our hero manages to outrun n eventually kill one of the hunter. After all the running n escaping the bullets, arrows, bombs, etc, our hero falls down a hill n that landing is so far away from the hunters that he manages to take his own time, he encounters a hot girl in the middle of a jungle, she is suppose to be a tribal/forest dweller but looks more like a hot model. Our hero gets ample time to chat, our heroine gets time to take our hero to some secret hideout where our heroines brother is already hiding from the hunters. For how long was the brother in the hideout? How was he managing his food n other needs. Our heroine applies some herbal medicines to our hero's wound. She manages to pray to some idol n offer incense sticks. She even manages to make our hero kneel down before that idol. Oi, I forgot to tell ya one thing. One of the hunter is a female (Rhona Mitra). Looks like she was jus there for the paycheck. She is everybody's type. This is her answer to our hero when our hero tells her that she is not his type. Our hero is being chased by so many men with guns, bows n arrows, bikes, jeeps, helicopter and at close range, but he manages to stay alive. Too unrealistic. Because our hero is not some ex navy/military/cia operative. He is jus a drunkard n a ring fighter. I am a big fan of Scott Adkins. But this guy is doing some real bad films. Most of his films r direct to dvds. He shud avoid becoming Michael dudikoff or Steven seagal. Some highlights- decent cinematography n the way Rhona mitra gets killed is innovative. Very bad n lazy fight/action sequences.

Lead Character wasPermalink
suhstayn24 September 2016
I came into this with low expectations .. hoping for an average run of the mill action movie.
And frankly this film couldn't even achieve that.
The lead character / actor was just so dull. I never found myself rooting for him to succeed. Hoping he doesn't die. Nor do you want him to fail. He was not even bad enough to root against him. He was just completely bland. Uninteresting. Bordering on irrelevance.
It's hard for a movie to get any traction when the lead character is so dull. He has no charisma. No enjoyment. No real relationship. One pointed to in the beginning but sped past at full speed so you never get any feel for either the lead character or the friend. Then there is the obligatory love interest which comes too late in the film and there is never any spark on screen between the two actors.
So bad lead character. No charisma. No relationships to get the lead out his shell. Thoroughly uninteresting individual and the whole movie revolves around him. When you do not care about the lead character it makes everything else less interesting. When you do not have a strong story (not that you would expect one in an action movie like this), you cannot overcome that.
Even when you do some of the other things right.
So overall, a 3 or 4 out of 10.

Raging Phoenix's Deu and Sanim vs. Scott Adkins !!!!Permalink
Crazy_Bruce25 April 2019
Wow !!! at this point in history JeeJa Yanin and Kazu 'Patrick' Tang were reduced to stunt fighting and not speaking roles !!! Well Mr. Tang still is doing stunt fighting but JeeJa Yanin at least is getting speaking roles as evident in ~ Triple Threat !!! This film retreads so many different film themes involving hunting humans for sport , a fighter kills their opponent and tailspins downward until they have a redemptive story arc , a injured Caucasian encounters a native girl and is nursed back to health, etc. When JeeJa and Kazu showed up with two other fighters I was completely surprised and finally saw JeeJa Yanin fight Scott Adkins !!! But this is Scott's movie so they were nerfed big time !!! They even had a Raging Phoenix move during the short fight !!!

Gloriously cheesyPermalink

Oh my god, this movie. A solid 5 out of 10 stars for sure. It might even be worth 6. I saw the original Hard Target in the theater when it came out and I remember thinking it was pretty cheesy at the time, so when I saw THIS NEW ONE FROM 2016, WITHOUT VAN DAMME.. I knew I had to watch it. Everything about this movie is hilarious and it's got that one dude in it who I recognize from some ninja movie or something, so that's cool I guess. I used to be the kind of person who would hate this movie and others like it. And I can see how some people *would* hate it - it's got some plot holes and whatnot - but I think the real keys to thoroughly enjoying this movie in all its cheesy glory are these two things - 1. Think of it as a comedy, not an action flick. Blazing Saddles was a comedy disguised as a Western. This is nowhere near as funny as Blazing Saddles, but it is a comedy disguised as an action flick. And 2. Be high as F when you watch it. It's the only way.

Not Too BadPermalink

The storyline and plot are totally predictable. If you have watched any marshal arts movie in your life, you can predict where everything is going. That said, the fight scenes are well choreographed and the casting is good. It is an easy watch without too much blood and violence (I am not saying it is children friendly though), and entertaining enough not to make you feel you cannot stand it for an hour and a half.

If you're willing to forgive the almost impressive lack of originality here and just concentrate on the Adkins action, Hard Target 2 is certainly worth seeing.Permalink

Warning: Spoilers![Target Target](https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/6c1kUlfHhaeQfzubKhm0wFzENsP.jpg)
Wes Baylor (Adkins) is on a career trajectory that could be the case for anyone: He was a Las Vegas-based MMA fighter, he accidentally kills his buddy in the ring during a fight, he feels bad, he starts drinking and hits the skids, he begins Punchfighting in Bangkok, and an unscrupulous baddie tricks him into hunting him for sport. Could happen to anybody. Of course, said baddie, Jonah Aldrich (Knepper) has a hunting party with him in the Burmese jungle that also enjoy hunting the greatest prey of all..MINK! Oh wait, no. MAN! These hunting compatriots include a gaggle of stereotypes such as the Weak Link, the Millennial Video Game Designer, the Tough Chick, A Spanish Bullfighter, an Australian Outback (?)-style hunter, and the dad trying to toughen up said Weak Link.
Aldrich has his second-in-command, Madden (Morrison) as the tough guy of the group. Aldrich is paying off the Burmese authorities with suitcases full of cash, but there's also a cache of rubies at stake. When the initially down-and-out Baylor (whose MMA nickname was 'The Jailor', which is actually spelled correctly) finds an innocent country girl named Tha (Truong) in the jungle, he finally finds he has something to fight for, and he unleashes his power on the Aldrich group. Will Baylor be a HARD TARGET 2 Aldrich?
While Hard Target 2 is not a bad movie, it doesn't live up to the potential that a Hard Target sequel starring the great Scott Adkins promises. It's certainly better than previous Adkins vehicles such as El Gringo (2012), but even seeing this movie for the first time feels like watching a repeat. If we may compare it to a superior Adkins film, Green Street 3 (2013), that one was like admiring a brilliant piano player, while Hard Target 2 is like watching a player piano. It hits all the right notes on cue, but that's about it.
It has absolutely beautiful Thai locations, and thankfully the production values are high, but exactly how many Most Dangerous Game/Surviving the Game movies need to be made at this point? Should we be happy that the DTV industry is still making these or not? It depends on your tolerance for a lack of a creative or original plot, or if you just really like the whole 'hunting humans in the jungle' thing. There have to be fans out there of it..but how many to justify yet another one?
It all starts right away with a nice bang (complete with some funny yelling), and the whole outing has plenty of action. That being said, the 104-minute running time could have been chopped down a bit. The always-enjoyable Adkins has some great fighting moves on display, but we missed his natural British accent. How come the Burmese country girl had one but he wasn't allowed to have one? (We think we may have detected a few instances where it slipped through, however).
There are several references to the earlier Hard Target film, from the use of slow motion, to the casting of Robert Knepper as the baddie, probably because he physically resembles Lance Henriksen. Not that Knepper isn't great in his own right, but the resemblance does give this sequel a sort of continuity to the earlier film.
Director Reine's filmography is pretty rife with sequels to other people's movies (or his own), but he's notable (?) for directing the Connecticut-shot Seagal vehicle Pistol Whipped (2008) - also starring Lance Henriksen. Fun facts aside, Hard Target 2 is another in a long line of movies of this sort that include everything from Death Ring (1992) to Soldiers of Fortune (2012), and countless other examples.
The action is there, Adkins is there, the production values are there - just a tad bit of originality would have gone a long way, because it's not there. Linking this with the earlier Hard Target in viewers' minds may have been shrewd, but another title might have been a better move. But that's unlikely to have happened, because the sign on the door here is apparently, 'no originality, no problem'.
Still, we should be happy this came out in the U.S. It seems like something this would be exclusively made for foreign markets. If you're willing to forgive the almost impressive lack of originality here and just concentrate on the Adkins action, Hard Target 2 is certainly worth seeing.

Don't Hunt What You Can't KillPermalink
cogeorge-1794931 May 2018
Scott Adkins has definitely taken after Jean-Claude Van Damme after a few movies together like Universal Soldier (2012), and The Shepherd. I'm one of his behind-the-scenes fans.
I'm quite impressed that so many features and themes of the first firm are played out in the second: the opening chase scene; the lead actor meets a girl who tags along; the single-load gun wielded by both lead villains, and the human hunt theme. Here, Aldrich and his corrupt minions pick on a 'piece of meat' they can't chew.
I like recurrent the hand-to-hand fights, and the idea of Adkins' survival with little or no use of weapons, it retains Van Damme's style of fighting, including having a favorite (finisher) kick. This is a movie about hunting humans, so I think the villains could do with a little more of gruesome deaths, like Sofia's (remember how Arnold Vosloo was killed in the first film).
I saw Thriller as one of this movie's genres, but frankly it's far from thrilling. The plot was quite predictable. For me the actors are not really to blame for any lags in the plot. The actors were great, but Reiné overlooked certain unrealistic scenarios. The minefield, for instance. The time between Baylor shooting at Tobias Zimling and his getting to a safe distance from the explosion is unrealistic for me. I also think with all the hunters' expertise, high-tech weapons and escorts, they shoulda hit Baylor at least once, that would raise the thriller scale.
It's just another movie by another director on the human hunt theme. I wouldnt dabble into which is better, this or the first movie. Roel Reiné did a fine job nonetheless.

This is not good for businessPermalink
nogodnomasters10 October 2017
Warning: SpoilersThe film opens with a man being hunted with crossbows in a warehouse and then goes six months earlier to Las Vegas where Wes 'The Jailer' Baylor (Scott Adkins) kills his friend Johnny 'Solid Gold' Sutherland (Troy Honeysett) in a kickboxing match. Wes feels bad, so like most depressed kick-boxers in films he moves to Bangkok and makes chum change fighting unsanctioned street fights living in pigeon filth.
Enter Aldrich (Robert Knepper) a man who promotes high purse unsanctioned fights. Baylor agrees to the fight in corrupt Myanmar, but is tricked into being the hunted as hunters from around the world peruse Baylor through the jungle whose talents as a kick-boxer are not as meaningful as all that special ops stuff he now does. You can guess how it ends. I was confused by the opening hunt, expecting it to circle around to it with the six month information, but it does not. That was a separate hunt altogether, but is a tie-in. Arrows fly in slow motion, but didn't seem to add anything.
Standard protagonist hero being hunted film. Doesn't require thinking. Decent for what it was.
Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Okay take on an old formulaWarning: SpoilersPermalink
Hard Target 2 Download Torrent
Yes folks, once again we get another B movie that's a take on the old 'The Most Dangerous Game' formula - though the fact that this is a sequel (at least in name only) probably alerted you to that fact. Anyway, I have seen a lot of B movie takes on this formula, and I can say that 'Hard Target' is neither among the best or the worst of this formula. First, the positive stuff. The production values for a direct to DVD movie are quite strong for the most part, though I don't know why the colors were sometimes muted. And the action sequences are pretty well done, whether it is hand to hand combat or firearms.
However, the flow of the movie isn't always intense - there are some long, almost sedate moments that lessen the excitement level. And there are some groaner moments, like when Scott Adkins' character doesn't pick up weapons of the people he kills, or doesn't kill a hunter when he has the chance. Maybe this was to make sure the movie had an acceptable running length, but at one and three-quarters of a hour, the movie ends up running way too long. It also doesn't help that top-billed Adkins gives a performance that's somewhat lacklustre at times.
As I said, the movie in the end is okay. There are a lot worse tellings of this formula out there, but I would still suggest you try to see a better take if possible. I would recommend the movies 'Raw Courage' (a.k.a. 'Courage'), 'Avenging Force', and 'Surviving the Game' instead, if you can find any of them.

Is it an homage to John Woo?Permalink
lojitsu19 March 2017
Warning: SpoilersHere's a better late then never review of 'Hard Target 2' (R - 2016 - US)..Was it an homage to John Woo, or were they making fun of him?
Genre: Action/Martial Arts
My Score: 5.2
Cast=6 Acting=4 Plot=5 Ending=7 Story=3 Action=6 Pace=5 F/X=6 Fight=8 Sequel=2
A down on his luck mixed martial artist can't refuse a million-dollar purse he's offered for one final bout. When he arrives for the fight, he learns he's been tricked into becoming the target of a human hunt.
They say it's an homage to John Woo and the first film. It just seemed like they were making fun of him instead. The scenes with the doves were laughable, but the fight scenes and the ending were pretty cool. As a straight to DVD martial arts film it's not bad..but as a sequel to 'Hart Target' it can't even hold a candle to it. Scott Adkins is a great action star and I love Rhona Mitra, but the movie could have been better.

Not a good sequel still a one time watchable flickPermalink
AthulRamesh18 September 2016
First of all, anyone expecting ties or similarities to Hard Target will be disappointed from this so called sequel. There are inexplicable doves flying in slow motion and some daredevil action sequences, that's about the only sequel touch we get here.
This just is a no-frills human hunt movie capitalizing on the title of the 90's hit film. On the story part there isn't anything interesting but it moves at a rapid clip and the action never really slows down.
We have to accept the fact that it is a low budget action flick meant to be enjoyed for its combative nature. Like most 'B' movies the acting is a little uneven,Although It delivers a good amount of action and Adkins does a sterling job at being the hunted hero. The film is fun once the hunt gets going, which takes a good half hour. Adkins is in top form here, getting in lots of those crazy slow motion kicks and shows us a little bit of acting.
I am not saying that its a good sequel to the JCVD film but still you can give it a try if you like to see some action and some slow motion kicks, the film won't disappoint you in that.

At least Knepper looks like Henriksen..Warning: SpoilersPermalink
Hard Target 2 Watch Online
It seems that the straight to DVD market are beginning to run out of ideas again, as they've decided to hark back to making sequels to moderately successful films that have now become something of a cult for some.
About ten years ago, we had Hollow Man 2, 8mm 2, Single White Female 2, and a slew of American Pie films.
Just Lately we've had Jingle All The Way 2, Kindergarten Cop 2, and now this. I had relatively high expectations because Scott Adkins is quite he prolific straight to DVD action star. In fact, he's this generations Michael Dudikoff.
Retired mixed martial artist Wes 'The Jailer' Baylor can't refuse a million-dollar purse he's offered for one final bout in Myanmar.
But when he arrives for the fight, he learns he's been tricked into becoming the star of a very poor sequel.
Carrying only water and a ruby-filled money belt for the last person standing, Wes must outsmart the heavily armed group that has paid to kill him.
As he fights for his life in the treacherous jungle terrain, the hunters become the hunted.
Me and my silly expectations. Even though I had hopes for this, deep down I knew it wouldn't be any good, because the original is wonderfully over the top, and is almost fairy tale like in the way the film is edited. Here, we just have a whole load of slow motion, and if you thought 300 was in excess of using that style of filming, it's beyond ridiculous here.
In sure if the slow motion was taken out, the film wouldn't last twenty minutes.
So the film begins like an ending to any other Adkins movie, with a fight. But wait a minute, he ends up doing so terrible in the ring, he turns his back on society and turns to the bottle and stars in his own mini remake of A.W.O.L. For about ten minutes (a remake within a remake, how meta).
So then we get Jango Fett and cut price Henriksen who dupe him into becoming the hunted. And that's it.
Once we are in the jungle, we have a little bit of First Blood: Part 2 thrown in, some admittedly good fight scenes, and some admittedly really bad CG blood, and before you can say 'is there any decent female characters in this film?', Rhona Mitra walks in, and does absolutely nothing apart from pout and walk away from explosions...in slow motion.
It's a lifeless ordeal, nothing more than a blatant cash in on a wonderfully over the top action film.
And the biggest crime the film does?
Have bloomin' doves in it for no good reason.
Steer clear, it's very poor.

It's a lifeless ordeal, nothing more than a blatant cash in on a wonderfully over the top action film.
And the biggest crime the film does?
Have bloomin' doves in it for no good reason.
Steer clear, it's very poor.
